Hi, I'm Floyd

Think of me as your community knowledge companion. Ask a question, and I’ll search across your community’s discussions, resources, events, and learning content to deliver clear answers, surface relevant materials, and point you to the experts and opportunities that matter most.

How Floyd Works

Floyd searches across your entire community and its resources to connect you with the information you need, all in one place. In addition to your community content, Floyd can also reference any approved external sites or resources your organization has chosen to connect, ensuring answers are comprehensive, relevant, and trustworthy.

When you ask a question, Floyd intelligently surfaces:

  • Relevant discussions and Q&A so you can learn directly from peers and subject-matter experts
  • Key resources from your libraries, including documents, guides, toolkits, and other in-depth materials
  • Upcoming events and webinars to help you stay informed, involved, and connected
  • Courses and learning paths that support skill-building, credentialing, and ongoing education

Responses are exclusive to community content and other approved sources, so answers are accurate, secure, and tailored to your organization.

If Floyd can’t confidently find an answer, it doesn’t guess. Instead, it helps you “Ask your Fellow Humans” by drafting a discussion post that routes your question to the right experts in the community, keeping knowledge flowing and conversations active.

Floyd FAQs

What is Floyd?

Floyd is an AI-powered assistant built into your community to help members find answers, discover resources, and uncover learning opportunities faster. Powered by a large language model (LLM), Floyd understands questions in natural language and delivers clear, conversational responses — always grounded in your community’s content and linked back to the original source.

Floyd does not pull from the open internet or generate answers on its own. It is intentionally designed to reference only the content inside your community and any approved external sites your organization has chosen to connect, ensuring responses remain accurate, secure, and relevant.

Floyd draws from:

  • Discussions and Q&A shared by peers and subject-matter experts

  • Resource libraries and documents, including guides, toolkits, and files

  • Events and webinars, helping members stay informed and engaged

  • Courses and learning content that support skill-building and growth

  • Linked external sites your organization has explicitly approved

Because Floyd is powered by trusted, permission-aware sources, members get answers that reflect your organization’s knowledge — not generic AI output.

How is Floyd kept secure?

Floyd is built and configured with data privacy and security in mind:

  • Grounded in your data only: Floyd can only use the content and data from your community (and any additional sources your organization has explicitly approved). It does not pull from the open internet or other customers’ data when answering member questions.

  • Respects member permissions: When generating an answer, Floyd checks the signed-in user’s existing permissions and only considers content they are allowed to see (for example, private communities, member-only libraries, or restricted resources stay restricted).

  • No training of public models on your data: Subscriber data is used only to provide services to your organization and is not used to train or fine‑tune public AI models.

  • Stateless, enterprise LLMs: Floyd relies on enterprise-grade LLM services (such as AWS Bedrock and Microsoft Azure AI) that are configured so interaction data is not retained for model training and is only used transiently to process the current request.

  • Aligned with Higher Logic’s AI Usage policy: All AI features are optional, require explicit admin opt‑in, and follow Higher Logic’s AI Usage standards for responsible, ethical use, including clear labeling of AI-generated content and support for human review where appropriate.

What doesn’t Floyd know?

Floyd doesn’t have access to information outside of your community and approved sources. It also doesn’t see private or restricted content unless a member has permission to access it, and it doesn’t make assumptions or provide advice beyond what your content supports.

What makes Floyd different from other AI tools?

Unlike generic AI tools, Floyd is trained on your community’s content - not the open internet. That means responses are more relevant, more accurate, and aligned with your organization’s goals, voice, and expertise.

What if I don't get an answer? Ask a human!

If Floyd can’t confidently answer your question or didn't give an answer, it can help you ask the community and your fellow peers. Floyd will draft a discussion post and guide your question to the right experts, making it easy to tap into real human knowledge.

How can I give feedback on Floyd’s responses?

Your feedback helps Floyd improve. Let us know what was helpful, or what wasn’t, so we can continue refining the experience.
